I have been asked for a customs charge!

When we post orders internationally, we take extra care to complete customs documents accurately.

In most jurisdictions, there should be no customs charges on your order - although in some cases there may be - please consult your government's website for more information. These charges are beyond the control of Stanfords.

If you are asked for a customs charge by your local postal service, it is likely that you will have to pay it to have your delivery sent to you. There may also be an additional "admin fee".

In some cases you may be able to claim the charge back by disputing this with your country's customs department, although it's likely you won't be able to claim the admin fee.

If you refuse to pay the fee, the parcel will return to us in the UK. We will refund you for the cost of the returned item/s, but will not refund the postage.

We can only control how accurately we enter the details of your order on the customs document. But sometimes you will receive a charge anyway - this is beyond our control and is the responsibility of the local delivery company and customs officials of your country.
